Justin vient du latin Justinus, forme derivee de Justus signifiant "juste" ou "droit". Porte par deux empereurs byzantins et surtout par Justin Martyr, philosophe chretien du IIe siecle, le nom s'est repandu dans toute l'Europe medievale. Aux Etats-Unis, il a atteint la 7e place en 1988 avec plus de 35 000 naissances. En Australie, il est passe du rang 95 en 1966 a la 24e place en 1990, avant un declin progressif dans les annees 2000.
