Sandra est née comme forme abrégée de Cassandre, la légendaire prophétesse troyenne de la mythologie grecque, condamnée à ne jamais être crue. Ses racines grecques associent "kekasmai" (briller) à "aner" (homme), donnant le sens de "celle qui brille parmi les hommes".
