Teodoro est la forme espagnole, italienne et portugaise de l'ancien prénom grec Theodoros (Θεόδωρος), signifiant 'don de Dieu', de theos ('dieu') et doron ('don'). Le prénom a connu son essor dans l'Empire byzantin et le monde chrétien primitif, où de nombreux saints et chefs d'Église le portaient avec honneur.
