๐Ÿ“– About Anicetus

Anicetus is an ancient Greek name derived from "aniketos," meaning "unconquerable" or "invincible," sharing its root with the goddess Nike. In early Christian history, Anicetus is remembered as the fifteenth Pope of Rome (c. 155-166 AD), who met Bishop Polycarp of Smyrna in one of the earliest recorded ecumenical dialogues. He was later martyred and is venerated as a saint, with his feast day on April 17. The name persisted in its Spanish form Aniceto through Catholic communities in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula.
