Ceris is a Welsh feminine name, a variant spelling of Cerys (also spelled Carys), derived from the Welsh word "caru" meaning "to love" and the suffix "-ys" or "-is." The name is deeply rooted in the Welsh language and its poetic traditions, where love (cariad) holds a central place in bardic verse and folklore. Though Ceris is less common than Cerys or Carys, it retains the same lyrical quality that has made its sister forms popular across Wales and beyond since the late 20th century.
