Evandros is a Hellenic-style variant of Evander, from Greek elements eu (“good”) and anēr/andros (“man”), generally interpreted as “good man,” “noble man,” or “brave man.” The name carries classical resonance through ancient Greco-Roman tradition, where Evander appears as a culture-bearing heroic figure in mythic narratives connected to early Italy and Arcadian ancestry. The Evandros form preserves a more overtly Greek morphological ending (-os), making it feel especially tied to Greek linguistic identity while remaining intelligible internationally. In modern naming, it is relatively uncommon, which gives it a distinctive scholarly and mythic tone compared with more familiar variants. Its semantic core emphasizes virtue, character, and honorable conduct. Today Evandros is perceived as strong, cultivated, and classically heroic.
