Néstor is a name of ancient Greek origin, carrying within it the very concept of return and homecoming. It derives from the Greek Néstōr (Νέστωρ), connected to the verb néomai — to return safely — sharing its root with nóstos (homecoming), the same stem that gave us the word nostalgia. In Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Nestor was the aged king of Pylos, venerated for wisdom and eloquence rather than physical strength. His mythological legacy shaped how the name has been perceived: Néstor evokes maturity, authority, and considered judgment. The name spread through the Greek and Roman worlds and found particular endurance in Spanish-speaking countries, where the accented form became standard.
