Celestyna ist die polnische Form des altlateinischen Namens Caelestina, abgeleitet von caelestis – 'himmlisch' oder 'zum Himmel gehörend'. Der Name gelangte durch eine Reihe von Päpsten und Heiligen in die christliche Tradition, am bekanntesten durch Papst Coelestin V. (1215–1296), der auf das Papsttum verzichtete und später heiliggesprochen wurde. Im katholischen Polen war der Namenstag am 6. April verankert. Im 18. und 19.
