Tereza es la forma portuguesa y checa/eslovaca de Teresa, uno de los nombres con mayor resonancia espiritual en la tradición occidental. Su origen es debatido: algunos lo relacionan con Therasia, nombre griego de la isla de Thera (actual Santorini), mientras otros lo vinculan al griego 'therizo' (cosechar).
