Taïs est la variante portugaise de l'ancien nom grec Thaïs, dont les racines évoquent la guérison et la restauration. De la célèbre hétaïre athénienne qui accompagnait Alexandre le Grand à la sainte pénitente d'Alexandrie et à l'héroïne de l'opéra de Massenet, ce nom porte une richesse millénaire.
