Seraphim stammt vom hebräischen 'seraphim' (שְׂרָפִים) ab, was 'die Brennenden' bedeutet — die höchste Ordnung der Engel in der abrahamitischen Tradition, in Jesajas Vision als sechsflügelige, göttlich flammende Wesen beschrieben, die Gottes Thron umgeben. Als Vorname wurde Seraphim hauptsächlich im orthodoxen Christentum verwendet, besonders in russischen und osteuropäischen Traditionen, wo er tiefe spirituelle Bedeutung trägt.
