๐Ÿ“– About Ihor

Ihor is the Ukrainian form of Igor, derived from Old Norse Ingvarr ("Ing's warrior"). Brought to Kyivan Rus by Varangian settlers in the 9th century, it was borne by Prince Ihor of Kyiv (r. 912โ€“945) and became embedded in Slavic noble tradition. After Ukrainian independence in 1991, the spelling Ihor โ€” distinct from the Russian Igor โ€” became a conscious expression of Ukrainian identity. The name evokes warrior heritage, dynastic lineage, and a deep connection to Eastern European history.
